The tables below give a brief description of the ConnectCarolina training sessions that will be provided to ConnectCarolina users on campus.

Finance

Course Name Type Course Description
Making University Deposits Classroom This course covers the process for making university deposits, which record incoming payments.
Managing Budgets & Creating Budget Journals Classroom This course gives an introduction to how budgeting works in ConnectCarolina and shows how to create budget journals and budget transfers. It also explains how to budget pre-check transactions (such as purchase requests), and how to resolve budget errors.
Managing Budgets and Financial Transactions for Schools and Divisions Classroom This course covers advanced budgeting and financial transactions, such as managing budget attributes, analyzing budgets, viewing with salary source and fringe benefits, defining with program and cost codes, approving financial transactions, and running reports and inquiries.
Accounts Receivable/Billing for Units Other than Sponsored Research Classroom This course covers accounts receivable and billing for units other than the Office of Sponsored Research. (Only a few units will use ConnectCarolina AR/Billing at Go Live.)
Working with Projects for Construction Audiences Classroom This course explains how to use ConnectCarolina to track budgets and expenses for construction projects.  In addition, it shows how to create and modify capital projects, close projects, and analyze and report on them.
Administering Approval Workflow and Approvers Classroom This short course explains the general workflow for approvals, and how to assign approvers and specify which types of transactions require approval.
Finance Train-the-Trainer Course Classroom This course provides campus instructors with training delivery skills and tools to teach: • Ordering and receiving goods or services that require a purchase order • Using campus vouchers to pay vendors (SOP documents, check requests) • Requesting new vendors (formerly done in WebVendor) • Making salary source changes • Making journal entries
Intro to the New Version of ePro Webinar This webinar explains how ordering from catalog vendors like Staples and Fisher Scientific is changing as a result of moving to a new version of ePro. The ordering process is very similar, but the look and feel of ePro is changing.
Managing Petty Cash in ConnectCarolina Webinar This webinar explains how to create a campus voucher to replenish petty cash.
P-Card Changes Webinar This webinar covers changes to the P-Card system, including the use of the new chartfields.
Changes to WebTravel Webinar This webinar explains changes to the Web Travel system, including key changes to chartfields and approvals. It also explains how the FRED routing tool will continue to route these transactions and explains changes to the CABS system.
ConnectCarolina 101 for Finance Computer-based training

This self-paced course provides an introduction to ConnectCarolina including access and security, navigation, and searching for information.

Chartfields 101 Computer-based training This self-paced course explains the chartfield structure in ConnectCarolina, including a thorough description and examples of each chartfield. The course also includes a knowledge check that covers the definitions of the chartfields essential to all finance transactions.
Requesting New Chartfield Values Computer-based training This self-paced course covers how to request new chartfield values or changes to existing values.
Ordering from the ePro Vendor Catalogs Computer-based training This self-paced course complements the ePro webinar, and explains how to order from the catalogs available in ePro, such as Staples and Fisher Scientific. The new ordering process is very similar to the current one, but the look and feel of ePro is changing.
Ordering Software from ITS Software Acquisition Computer-based training This self-paced course explains how to order software through ePro. For more information about the ITS Software Acquisition program, refer to http://software.sites.unc.edu/.
Updating Locations for Capital Assets Computer-based training This self-paced course describes how to enter an asset’s location, including searching for and viewing an asset, updating information, and reporting movement and status.
Approving Location Changes for Capital Assets Computer-based training This self-paced course describes how to enter an asset’s location, including searching for and viewing an asset, updating information, and reporting movement and status.
Requesting Wire Transfers Computer-based training This self-paced course covers how to use a campus voucher to request a wire transfer.
Approving Finance Transactions Computer-based training This series of short self-paced courses gives an overview of the approval process and explains how to approve purchase requests, vouchers, journal entries, budget journals, and new vendor requests.
Verifying University Deposits Computer-based training This self-paced course explains how to perform an inquiry to verify departmental deposits.
WebTravel for Travel Administrators Computer-based training This self-paced course provides the information necessary for travel administrators to understand and use the Web Travel application to:
* Request travel authorization for prepayment of travel expenses such as conference registration fees.
* Request purchase of airfare.
* Request reimbursement of travel expenses.
* Approve or reject travel-related expenditure requests.
Approving Finance Transactions Large venue demo This large venue demo complements the approvals computer-based training. It offers a demonstration on how to approve purchase requests, vouchers, journal entries, budget journals, and new vendor requests, and provides an opportunity to ask questions.
Contracts & Grants for Research Administrators Large venue demo This presentation explains the interaction between RAMSeS and ConnectCarolina, as well as how to look up information and log expenditures in the system. It also provides an opportunity to ask questions.

ConnectCarolina Actions for HR Representatives Classroom This multi-part, instructor-led course explains how to perform all types of complex actions in ConnectCarolina, including hiring faculty and staff, and performing status change actions such as leave and terminations. It also introduces participants to the available reporting options and explains the approvals process.
Approving and Viewing HR Actions Classroom This instructor-led course provides an overview of the HR/Payroll system and explains how to approve HR actions in ConnectCarolina.

Originating Lump Sum Payments Computer-based training This self-paced course explains how to originate lump sum payments in ConnectCarolina.
Originating Student Actions Computer-based training This self-paced course explains how to originate student actions in ConnectCarolina.

Overview of ConnectCarolina Reporting Options Computer-based training This self-paced course covers the basics of retrieving information from ConnectCarolina. Beginning with running queries and reports in the system, participants will learn basic reporting terminology and concepts, as well as receive information on common queries and reports.
Introduction to InfoPorte Computer-based training This series of self-paced courses covers how InfoPorte provides a variety of users a simplified way to access the information they need to perform their job functions on a day-to-day basis.
Running PeopleSoft Reports Computer-based training This self-paced course covers the basics of retrieving reports from ConnectCarolina. Participants will learn basic reporting terminology and concepts, as well as receive information on reports.
Running ConnectCarolina Queries Computer-based training This self-paced course covers the basics of running queries in ConnectCarolina. Participants will learn basic terminology and concepts, as well as receive information on queries.
Performing ConnectCarolina Inquiries Computer-based training This self-paced course covers the basics of running inquiries in ConnectCarolina. Participants will learn basic terminology and concepts, as well as receive information on inquiries.
Grants Inquiry Computer-based training This self-paced course covers how to perform inquiries on grants and contracts.
Budget Inquiry Computer-based training This self-paced course shows how to see a snapshot of your budget, compare budgets in different ledgers, and view transactions with errors.
Running Finance Reports, Queries, Inquires Large venue demo This large venue demo complements the reporting computer-based training. It offers demos of the basics of running and retrieving Finance reports from ConnectCarolina, and provides an opportunity to ask questions.
