ePAR Actions and Action Reasons
The Hire/Add Job Form Type is used to hire or rehire employees and contingent workers to a new position or an additional position. The form requires Hire (HIR) or Add Contingent Worker (ADD) Action and Reason Code.
The Provisional Hire Form Type is for Regular Faculty only and shares the same Hire (HIR) Action and Reason Codes.
In certain cases, a Position Change (POS) Action or Return from Leave/Return from Work Break (RFL, ESW, FIR) can be added to the form for Position and Return status changes. Refer to the Position Change or Leave of Absence/Work Break section for a list of Reasons and allowable Employee Groups.

New Employment (NEW) | The initial employment of an individual to a position in the university. Transfer Within UNC System (TWU) | The movement of an employee from a UNC System School position to a UNC Chapel Hill position without a break in service. The Transfer Job Form Type is used to transfer employees or contingent workers from an existing, active position into another position. The form requires Transfer (XFR) Action and Reason Code.
In certain cases, a Position Change (POS) Action or Return from Leave/Return from Work Break (RFL, GSR, FIR) can be added to the form for Position and Return status changes. Refer to the Position Change or Leave of Absence/Work Break section for a list of Reasons and allowable Employee Groups.

In some cases, a Position Change (POS) Action can be added to a Hire/Add Job, Transfer Job, or Update Existing Job Form Type in order to allow certain Position Data to be modified as part of the ePAR, such as the Reports To position number or FTE. A Position Change Action and Reason must be added in order for Position fields to be edited.

The Update Existing Job Form Type is used to update an individual’s Job Data details, such as extending the end date, reappointing, and service period changes.

The Update Existing Job Form Type is used to place jobs on leave of absence and/or return from leave, as well as initiate a short work break and/or return an employee from work break.
In certain cases, a Return from Leave/Return from Work Break (RFL, GSR, FIR) can be added to a Transfer in order to return someone as part of the transfer action.

The Update Existing Job Form Type is used to end or complete an employee or contingent worker’s record(s). The form requires a Termination (TER) or Completion (COM) Action and Reason Code in order to end a job.
