This session will cover the path that transactions such as campus vouchers, campus/GL journals, budget journals, and purchase requisitions take through the ConnectCarolina system. Understanding the steps that move a transaction from started to completed helps you understand when the transaction shows up in InfoPorte, how and when charges update your budget, and when they are posted to the General Ledger. This session is useful if you’re new to ConnectCarolina and also if you’d like to understand the paths transactions take considering the recent changes to the system. If you feel stressed when your Department needs to submit an Independent Contractor approval request, this presentation will provide helpful and valuable information based on the guidelines and procedures necessary to do it correctly. Join Cortney Alston of UNC-Chapel Hill’s Finance & Operations team as she provides insight on how to get the most out of onboarding new employees to PeopleSoft. New employee orientation often includes training on the organization’s policies and procedures as well as PeopleSoft. We are going to examine the current process of overpayments for the University and discuss process improvements. We plan to take a holistic point of view on how over payments work in the system, ranging from a practical approach to ultimately a preventative approach. This presentation will include some of the following: practical steps to take (where and how to complete necessary steps in resolving over payments, targeted for beginner HR reps), to proactive/reactive approaches (including examples and resources), and implications of over payments (looking at how it affects other areas and departments across campus).
