“If I attend UNC, what Financial Aid package will I receive?” It’s a question that’s always remained unanswered for students and their families for a week, month or more after they receive their admission offer. That’s about to change thanks to a process improvement project led by The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid in collaboration with ITS Enterprise Applications. One of the primary objectives of the project is to make financial aid package information available to prospective students at the same time as they are offered admission. An equally important objective is to automate the processes for packaging financial aid as much as possible. Getting information to prospective students earlier, combined with automating routine work, will give the Enrollment and Scholarships and Student Aid staff more time to focus on their core mission: to help advise students and families so they can have a full Carolina experience and successfully complete graduation. The significant benefits of this project for the University were noted by Rachelle Feldman, Interim Vice Provost of Enrollment and Undergraduate Admissions and Associate Provost for Scholarships and Student Aid: “I think this will be one of the most important and transformative technology projects, affecting students and student aid, that we … Read more

To:                         Everyone Who Works with Purchase Requisitions or Vouchers in ConnectCarolina From:                    Martha Pendergrass, Director of Procurement Services Subject:               Two Improvements to Purchasing and Payments (CORRECTED)   Category Codes Reduced by 95% If you enter purchase requisitions or vouchers, you know that you need to enter a category code (also called “commodity code”) for each item you are buying or paying for. These categories are important because they help the University track spending and negotiate better prices, but currently the list is long, so it is difficult to navigate. Starting Monday evening, May 1, choosing a category will get easier. The number of categories is being reduced from approximately 55,000 to around 850.  The category codes that start with “UNC” or “EHS” will stay the same, but the rest of the categories will be rolled up to a higher level (the one that ends in “0000”).  For example, instead of choosing 44121702 for Pen or Pencil Sets, you’ll 44120000 for Office Supplies. If you’ve created “cheat sheets” for yourself or your team, you’ll need to review them and translate them to the new, higher-level category codes.  The documents attached to this email will help you make the transition: UNC’s … Read more

Email Communication Send Date: November 12, 2020 From: ConnectCarolina Communications To:  Access Request Coordinators Subject:  Updated Student Administration Access Form Hello Access Request Coordinators, Granting access in the Student Administration area has traditionally been a pain point for ARCs. Many of you have asked us to make the form match the Access Request Tool so that you don’t have to translate between the two. If these statements hit close to home for you, you’ll like the update we have for you today. Starting tomorrow, Friday, November 13, we’ll have an updated ConnectCarolina and Related Applications Access Request Form for Student Administration posted on CCinfo.unc.edu. One of the important new roles you’ll notice on the form is a new Student Services Manager Role. Student Services Manager Role The new Student Services Manager (SSM) role is a combined role that grants basic access to Student Records, Cashiers, Financial Aid, and Admissions (for Graduate SSMs only). What this means is that when someone needs SSM access, they will use the ConnectCarolina Campus User section to request it. They won’t need to check any of the boxes in the other sections for SSM access. When you are entering the request into the Access Request Tool, you’ll need to enter Undergraduate or Graduate in the Data Level … Read more
