This is a recording of a webinar on the Payroll Accounting Report.
Improved reporting performance that makes data available earlier in the workday has been achieved through recent changes to the process of copying data from the ConnectCarolina transactional system to the data warehouse for InfoPorte and SAS reporting. Additional performance upgrades are expected soon. Ensuring that the prior day’s transactions are available on InfoPorte and SAS reports as early during the work day as possible is a major goal of the Enterprise Reporting and Departmental Systems (ERDS) team. Improvement in When Data are Available in InfoPorte and SAS Due to recent process changes, the prior day’s data are now available earlier. The InfoPorte main reports are usually ready before business hours, typically before 7:30am. Secondary reports such as BMS are usually ready around 8:45am. This is primarily due to improvements in how ConnectCarolina financial transactions are loaded into the data warehouse. The ERDS team collaborated on this behind-the-scenes effort, devoting weeks to ensuring that ConnectCarolina data was accurately represented in the data warehouse. A recent upgrade of the SAS environment has helped to stabilize that environment. Additional load-time improvements are anticipated by the end of March for reports created in SAS Visual Analytics. More work is underway to further improve load … Read more

“An inclusive blue begins with you.” The message is front and center on the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) home page and, earlier this summer, as part of this larger diversity and inclusiveness initiative, ConnectCarolina added a new page to give students the option to designate preferred pronouns and preferred gender identity (Personal Information tile > Pronouns/Gender Identity). Right now, the information is only available on the Pronoun/Gender Identity page in ConnectCarolina, but in the coming months, you’ll see the preferred pronouns displayed alongside preferred names in other locations. The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is working with students and campus partners to define other areas where this information will appear. Peoplesoft, the software system that ConnectCarolina is built on, does not offer the Preferred Pronoun/Gender Identity option in the HR/Payroll system for employees, but we continue to advocate for it and will enable it once it’s available. “The use of Preferred Gender/Pronoun is a small step toward inclusion on our campus and it further supports the guiding principles for the Registrar, ITS, Student Affairs and the University. This is the first step in what we hope will be many phases of improved recognition and acknowledgment of … Read more

The Research Administration Service Request (RASR) tool is a workflow tool developed by the Office of Research Information Systems to aid processing units in the receiving and processing of all types of transactions including but not limited to Vouchers, Journals, Travel, and Requisitions. In this presentation/demonstration, attendees would learn (1) how a client could use the RASR tool to submit (and later view) a request to a processing unit, (2) how an administrator would review/approve transactions at a pre-audit level, (3) how a processor would take information from RASR and enter the transaction/request in UNC FInance Systems and, (4) how the system communicates to UNC Finance Systems to automatically complete the request notifying the client of process completion. This tool provides increased transparency to clients, a worklist of action items to the processing unit, and valuable metrics to the leadership of the processing unit.
