“Making the Connections” was not just the theme of the 2018 ConnectCarolina User Conference, it proved to be the aspect participants found most meaningful. Thursday, October 18, nearly 700 participants, speakers, volunteers, and vendors spent the day sharing information with and learning from each other at the second ConnectCarolina User Conference.

Survey results show an overwhelming majority – more than 90% – want to attend the next conference.

Participants also mentioned learning about ConnectCarolina best practices and Chief Information Security Officer Dennis Schmidt’s keynote address, Data Security, Why We Need to Protect UNC’s Information as meaningful aspects of the conference. One participant said, “It was extremely eye-opening. I used to think the 2-step was an inconvenience but now I understand the ‘why’ behind the ‘what.’”

Session Recordings

The conference registration filled in 26 hours but, for those who could not attend, we have good news! Many sessions were recorded using the new conferencing tool, Zoom, and are being uploaded to ccinfo.unc.edu/session recordings. In many cases, you will have access to both the recording and the slide deck – allowing you to use the presentations as a resource without watching the video.

We hope to have the full catalog of 2018 ConnectCarolina User Conference resources available and searchable by Nov. 1. (Note: Some sessions experienced technical difficulties and could not be recorded. We’ll let you know if that was the case.)

We owe a big thank you to everyone in the campus community who made the event a success – the event planning team, attendees, presenters, volunteers, and vendors who gave away swag and advice at the Expo.
