As part of an effort to increase the security and reliability of Carolina’s information technology resources, ITS has implemented changes to faculty and staff connections to the ConnectCarolina application.  This means that:

  • Off campus access to ConnectCarolina requires the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) software
  • On campus access using wireless needs to be through UNC-Secure, the secure campus wireless network.

Exception: You do not need to use VPN to access the actions in Self Service.

If you have the need for off site access and have not previously installed VPN software, please review the following website for information on downloading, installing and configuring the software:
