In our February 2020 newsletter, we told about the efforts made to simplify the process for requesting disability accommodations by moving the paper process online in ConnectCarolina. Making this process easier is especially important during these extraordinary times, as we make plans for employees to move back to campus for work. The Roadmap for Fall of 2020 places the safety and well-being of the campus community as its highest priority and recognizes that some employees have health conditions that put them at higher risk if exposed to the COVID-19 virus. The COVID-19 Accommodation Request online form is the first step an employee will take to request accommodations based on their own medical condition that puts them at high risk. Specifically, it will allow employees to seek accommodations if they meet one or more of the following criteria: Are at high risk for contracting COVID-19, based on CDC criteria; Are at high risk of more severe complications if COVID-19 is contracted, based on CDC criteria; or Are otherwise unable to work as assigned due … Read more

We plan to take a holistic point of view on how over payments work in the system, ranging from a practical approach to ultimately a preventative approach. This presentation will include some of the following: practical steps to take (where and how to complete necessary steps in resolving over payments, targeted for beginner HR reps), to proactive/reactive approaches (including examples and resources), and implications of over payments (looking at how it affects other areas and departments across campus). We need your feedback! Please take this opportunity to complete the annual ConnectCarolina & InfoPorte 2018 Survey. We’re eager to hear what you think is working, what isn’t, what additional information you need from either system, and what features you hope we’ll develop. Your feedback is valuable for the ConnectCarolina team and will help us prioritize projects to address your top concerns during 2019. The survey will remain open until end-of-business on Wednesday, November 7th. Click to Complete Survey Last year, more than 1,300 faculty and staff members completed the 2017 ConnectCarolina and InfoPorte Feedback Survey. The feedback ranged far and wide, touching on most parts of ConnectCarolina and InfoPorte. You told us about many things you liked, such as getting your tax forms and pay stub from the Self Service menu, eProcurement and vouchers. But you also said there were “too many clicks” in ConnectCarolina and InfoPorte, and “navigating isn’t intuitive.” Others of you said you weren’t confident of the data in InfoPorte, and you needed better grants reporting. Your input helped guide us in prioritizing projects to focus on during 2018. For example, we created a revamped dashboard for principal investigators to pull essential grant information onto one page. We created a faculty portal that lets faculty … Read more

What’s New and What’s Changing Many of the changes coming with the upgrade of ConnectCarolina Finance are behind-the-scenes, but there are a few are new features and changes to the way the pages look. Among the most significant changes are an expanded Finance WorkCenter, different field labels in purchasing, a new layout for the Campus Voucher page, and new features for Budgets. More Links in the Finance WorkCenter If you haven’t used the Finance WorkCenter, give it a try. The WorkCenter lets you move quickly between menu options, and with the upgrade, it will have even more of the links you use most, all in one location.  To find it, click the Finance button on the left side of the home page, and then you’ll see Finance WorkCenter as the first option. At the top of the WorkCenter is a folder with the most commonly used pages. Label changes in Purchasing Perhaps the biggest change you’ll notice on December 10 is in Purchasing.  The term “vendor” is being replaced by “supplier” on all pages.  For example, instead “Vendor Catalog,” you’ll see “Supplier Catalog”.  Although the term is changing on most ConnectCarolina pages, you’ll still see ‘vendor’ in a few places.  For example, query names … Read more
