In an ongoing effort to strengthen the security of the University’s data and systems, ITS is moving web applications to a new platform. This means that the links that lead to applications like Customer Billing Management (CBM) and Bill Presentation are changing.  You won’t notice a change if you use the menus or the links under the blue Finance button on the home page of ConnectCarolina. Keep in Mind:  If you bookmarked some of the pages outside of ConnectCarolina, you need to delete those bookmarks and recreate them. Here are the new links you can use: For this application … Use this new link … CBM https://billing.itsapps.unc.edu/cbm Bill Presentation https://billing.itsapps.unc.edu/bp Carolina Managed Print Services (only available outside of ConnectCarolina) https://cmps.itsapps.unc.edu/CCInvoice/userLogin.jsp Request a print job from PrintStop https://www.myorderdesk.com/uncc Order business cards, letterhead, or envelopes from PrintStop https://www.myorderdesk.com/uncch

As part of a continuing effort to increase accessibility and improve usability, Duo is releasing an updated version of its Web-based prompt. The latest version will have a different look and some changes in functionality, so the change, starting May 10, will be noticeable to faculty, staff, and students. Duo is one of the multi-factor authentication tools that the University uses to keep UNC’s systems safe and stay ahead of security threats. If you work with administrative systems at the University, you use Duo every day. You could use Duo to access tax and student financials information, or because you work with Qualtrics or another service behind Duo. The new Duo prompt speeds up the authentication process by automatically sending to the last authentication method you used (“Send me a Push,” “Call me”…). This is a continuation of Duo’s efforts to increase accessibility and improve usability, which started last year with the mobile app update. What will the change look like? Currently, when you need to verify with Duo, the prompt displays within a UNC page. With the new prompt, it will be clear that you’re going to a page hosted by Duo with a duosecurity.com URL. Other changes are … Read more

Starting tomorrow, Friday, November 13, we’ll have an updated ConnectCarolina and Related Applications Access Request Form for Student Administration posted on CCinfo.unc.edu. One of the important new roles you’ll notice on the form is a new Student Services Manager Role. Student Services Manager Role The new Student Services Manager (SSM) role is a combined role that grants basic access to Student Records, Cashiers, Financial Aid, and Admissions (for Graduate SSMs only). What this means is that when someone needs SSM access, they will use the ConnectCarolina Campus User section to request it. They won’t need to check any of the boxes in the other sections for SSM access. When you are entering the request into the Access Request Tool, you’ll need to enter Undergraduate or Graduate in the Data Level … Read more

Three recent enhancements mean salary projections are now more accurate, especially for faculty, post-doc trainees and clinical fellows: Job end date is no longer used in calculating salary projections for faculty including fixed term faculty. Job end date is no longer used in calculating projections for post-doc trainees and clinical fellows paid by stipend (accounts 568770 or 568780). Salary projections on the PI Dashboard are now grouped based on when the employee will be paid (check date), not the dates the employee works (payroll period) on the monthly breakdown section of the report. Want to Know More?  Look for a webinar that explains salary projections and gives you a chance to ask questions  in early February.  You can also learn more about how the salary projections are calculated changes by reading the Salary Projections Reference Card.

Double-Check Your Home Address for Tax Forms Your home address (not your mailing address) is where the University sends your printed tax forms (1098-T and W-2).  Please take a minute to double-check your home address in the campus directory and update it if needed.  To do that, sign in to ConnectCarolina and from the Self Service (employees) or the Student home page, click the Personal Information tile, and then the Addresses option on the left side of the Personal Information screen. Verify that your home address is correct and click the red pencil icon next to your home address if you need to make changes. If you make changes, be sure to click OK at the bottom of the Edit Address page, and then Save. Please update your home address prior to winter break to guarantee your tax forms are delivered to your desired address. Opt Out of Printed Tax Forms  You can choose to opt out of printed W-2 and 1098-T forms and get them electronically only. Opt out of printed 1098-Ts: The IRS requires the University to issue Form 1098-T, “Tuition Payments Statement,” to each student by January 31. Updating Supplier Addresses Just Got a Little Easier.  We heard you. You told us that updating suppliers’ addresses is sometimes frustrating because there isn’t enough address detail on one page to identify which supplier’s address you want to change. Sound familiar? We are happy to report that starting Thursday evening, February 14, you will see a second column with more address information displayed in the Address History section of the page. Thank you for letting us know how to make your work in ConnectCarolina a little easier. Welcome to the upgraded ConnectCarolina finance system and thank you for your patience during the outage. Time to dive right into ConnectCarolina and get started. Although most changes were behind the scenes, you will notice some changes to screen fields and layout. You’ll first notice the change to the Finance Workcenter. It has more links to pages you use most. If you haven’t used the WorkCenter before, give it a try. It saves you time because you can quickly switch from link to link without using the breadcrumbs. Keep in mind, when you see changes to a screen layout it doesn’t necessarily mean that any of the functionality has changed. For Questions or Problems Contact the Service Desk at 919-962-HELP orhelp.unc.edu if you have any issues viewing the Finance pages or have questions about changes. Email Communication Send Date: July 27, 2020 From: ConnectCarolina Communications on behalf of Becky Arnold To: Employees with access to the Vendor Catalog page in ConnectCarolina Subject:  Vendor Catalog Access Note: You’re receiving this message because you have access to the Vendor Catalog page in ConnectCarolina. BuyCarolina, a new purchasing solution that is coming to the University in mid-August, will improve the University’s purchasing power as well as the end-user experience. This new cloud-based solution replaces the current ConnectCarolina eProcurement system. It will allow purchasers to comparison shop across the majority of suppliers and make smarter purchasing decisions without having to search each supplier separately. The new software is licensed based, and we have a limited number of licenses. In order to provide licenses for necessary users, we are removing access from anyone who hasn’t placed an order in the past fiscal year. Since you haven’t placed an order in the past year, your access will be removed on July 27, 2020. If you currently have access to use the Inquiry options in ConnectCarolina, you’ll keep the ability to review requisitions placed by others. If you find in the future that you have a need to place orders, you can request the Vendor Catalog … Read more
